Ghana's Security Services Will Plunge This Country Into Chaos...
Amass Ghana has observed with great concern the conundrums surrounding the Fulani herdsmen and residents of Asante Akim Agogo in the Ashanti Region which has warranted hundreds of injuries and few lives lost.
There is an adage which goes like the dead cannot be brought back to life, the past cannot be changed but the future can be shapeable or better still be change.
It is of this adage that Amass Ghana, a peace advocacy group, wish to prod the Security Council to be up in their game in making sure that, the future is indeed changed.
Amass Ghana is not happy with the developments that has bedeviled this country and wish to state with authority that, the Ghana security services and the Regional Security council (REGSEC) are either in bed with the cattle owners or have conked-out on their job and therefore needs to refreshing up.
“There have been a lot of dialogues and yet still nothing concrete has been furnished and if delay finds root in this brouhaha, then, we must say there will be epic conflict between the Fulani herdsmen and residents of Agogo.”
Amass Ghana has it that, on Thursday, 4th February, 2016, the leadership of the Ghana Security Service thronged in to Asante Akyem Agogo township in response to the call and howling of the citizens concerning the massacre of the Fulani herdsmen on the Agogo Stool Land.
Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, chief of defense staff, national security Coordinator, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, Regional security Coordinator, the Fire Chief and all who matter in the protection of the ordinary Ghanaian were in town and yet still blood has not clutched flowing.
Just yesterday two Fulani herdsmen were shot, one in the ankle and the other in the back in suburbs of Asante Akyem Agogo; so the question is, are the laws being bend already or is about to be broken?
Amass Ghana is of the view that, if the Ghana Security Service and the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) don’t refrain from politicizing the security system of this country, benign Ghanaians will have their loyalty eroded in our security agencies and this may have a far reaching corollaries as far as security of this country is concern.
Amass Ghana will also want to charge the Eastern Regional (REGSEC) to as a matter of urgency dissolve its “operation cow leg”, dispatching a total of 120 security officers drawn from the police, immigration service and the military to drive away Fulani herdsmen in the five districts with concerns with nomadic herders.
“The move will only worsen the case because preventing them from storming their boundaries… the mind blowing question is, where should they seek shelter; if you don’t want them in your neighborhood”?
Amass Ghana thinks it’s too early for the security service to be jumping the gun when due process could be followed to calm the water down, instead of treating the Fulani herdsmen as aliens; let’s not forget that, there are our countrymen living in different countries.
Amass Ghana will also like to put it on record that, majority of this problematic cattle’s are being owned by top-notch people of this country so why is the security service shooting in the foot when they can simply call these owners to dialogue.
Amass Ghana wish to also state emphatically that if indeed it turns out to be that, the security services are shifting goal pools because their palm are being greased by the would-be owners of the cattle’s, then; it will be a slur cast on the image of the security agencies as an institution.
In conclusion, Amass Ghana will not sleep from their slumber to receive immediate responds from these authority making bodies to restore peace in this country.
