SADA Moves To Promote Improved Water And Land-Use

The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) acting together with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has initiated moves to promote and sustain improved water and land-use across the three Northern Regions

As part of this a two-day workshop has been held in Tamale to identify and plan appropriate interventions to increase landscape productivity through the maintenance of healthy ecosystem.

“Enhancing research into policy and practice” was the theme.

Mr, Charles Abugri, Chief Executive Officer of SADA, said the goal was to fight poverty by creating opportunities to support investment and transform the lives of the people.

He said enhanced water and land-use would bring enormous benefits to the small land-holder.

Dr. Olufunke Cofie, Head of IWMI, said they were eager to guide sustainable investments in land and water management in the SADA Zone to ensure that farming remained attractive.

He announced that the Institute was collaborating with its partners of the conservation alliance to promote small scale irrigation technologies in the area.
