Tarkwa Court Jails Security Officer For Stealing

A 29 year old security officer accused of stealing a set of cooking utensils, a mobile phone and a DVD player has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by a Tarkwa District Court.

The convict, Godwin Kublenu, allegedly stole the items which belonged to his colleague worker.

He pleaded guilty and was charged for unlawful entry and stealing.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the Court, presided over by Madam Gifty Cudjoe that the complainant, Vincent Asaase, works with Kublenu at G4 Security Company and resides in the same vicinity at Mile 8, near Tarkwa.

He said on January 6, at about 1730 hours, the complainant left home for night duty. He returned the next day about 0730 hours and realised that his room had been broken into through the window.

He noticed that a set of cooking utensils, five pieces of spoons, a damaged mobile phone and a DVD player valued at GHC325.00 had been stolen.

The prosecution said the complainant informed the elders of the town and a public announcement was made by a local information centre about the theft.

The prosecutor said on January 10, at about 0200 hours, a vigilante group in the community during their usual night patrols, saw Kublenu in a nearby bush. They asked him what he was doing there at such an odd hour and the convict claimed he was defecating.

The prosecutor indicated that on that same day the volunteer team had information that the stolen items were in Kublenu’s possession.

Therefore, the complainant accompanied the vigilante group to the convict’s house and retrieved the stolen items from his room.

Kublenu was arrested and handed over to the police together with the stolen items.
