Jimmy B. To Help Change Movie Face In Ghana

Having been honoured with the highest award in his home country Sierra Leone for helping its film industry, it comes as no surprise that actor, producer and director Jimmy Bangoura has become the most sought after personalities when it comes to African movies. Flex crew pounced on him over the weekend at the Accra Shopping Mall where he was working as a director on his latest movie the forbidden from the stables of 7th Act Production owned by one of Ghana`s mercurial actress Lucky Lawson. �I actually started as a producer and I used to bring in Nigerian directors for my movies but along the line, I thought I could do it and lo and behold I have a degree in film directing� he said with lots of confidence. Mr. Bangoura may not be very popular to the ardent Ghanaian movie lover, but certainly to the American since he starred in the famous movie �Coming to America� where he played alongside Eddie Murphy. �This movie really brought me into the limelight and I thank the director who had so much confidence in me� he said. The movie Aminata which he directed in 2006 was nominated for the best Sierra Leonean movie and it is still receiving reviews all over Africa. �The movie Aminata should be doing well for the simple fact that it educates and portrays the need for the girl child or woman to be freed from all kinds of bondage and oppressions. Its high time the African woman is recognized and should be held in high esteem� Jimmy hinted. As a director, Jimmy added that he pays attention to details because he wants to stand out among the lots. �I would love to work with all artistes in Ghana. Majid Michel, Jackie Appiah, Van Vicker, Agya Koo, John Dumelo are all fantastic and will be looking forward to work with them in the near future� Bangoura outlined. The ace director who owns a distributing company in Sierra Leone plus an award winner as a producer said he counts Ghana as one of the best countries on the continent. �Ghana is a role model to many African nations and Kudos to the leaders for achieving this feat� he stated. A graduate from the City college Los Angeles int he United States of America, Jimmy is married to Sia Bangoura and the couple have two sons, Nehum (13) and Jimmy Junior (6). �Up coming actors should stay focused and be determined in everything they do� he added.
