Chief Rapes Girl, 20

Destooled Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV, known in private life as Humphrey Dzartor Botchway, aka “Koforidua,” has been allegedly accused of raping a 20-year-old girl in his house at Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra region.

According to our sources, Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV also threatened to kill the victim if she ever revealed anything of the sordid experience she had with him to any third party.

But the victim, who could not keep the horrifying ordeal to herself in spite of the threat, has formally lodged a complaint at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at the Ministries Police Station in Accra for the law to take its course.

Checks at DOVVSU at the Ministries’ Police Station showed that the victim in her caution statement stated that she was raped by the so-called Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Kwashie Gborlor.

Further checks by this paper at the Police Hospital, where the victim went for medical examination, revealed the presence of warts as well as bruises at different levels of healing in the vaginal walls, which according to the examination report, were consistent with rape or forced sexual intercourse.

Narrating the whole ordeal, the victim (name withheld) went to the house after she went there in the company of her mother to find a solution to a problem.

The victim continued that she later received a call from Nii Kwashie Gborlor inviting her over to his house.

She continued that she informed her mother about the chief’s invitation and her mother asked her to go.

“When I got to the house, I met a gateman who asked of my mission. I told him and he offered me a seat whilst he went in to call the chief. But before the gateman could come back, I saw the chief passing through the other direction and signaled me to take the opposite direction and meet him which I did,” the victim recounted.

According to the victim, Nii Kwashie Gborlor ushered her into his room through to the bedroom where he asked her to enter with her sandals on.

“As we sat, he began touching me. He first held my nose and told me how pretty I was, but I ignored him and told him not to do anything with me,” she said amid sobs.

“I tried to shout but he picked a handkerchief and put it in my mouth, tore my skinny dress I was wearing under my dress and forcibly had sex with me,” she lamented.

The victim mentioned that after the incident, Nii Kwashie Gborlor knelt down and pleaded with her and showed her a pot of something that looks like a “juju pot”  and threatened her to keep it a secret or else she would die if she dared told anyone about what had happened.

“Because of his threats I was unable to tell my mother when I got home, even though she suspected something went amiss. So the following day I begun feeling feverish with pains all over my body, I then decided to report to my step-father who called my mother and informed her about the incident,” she noted.

An emotionally charged family member, Nii Kwame Yedu II, who spoke on behalf of the family, minced no words in stating that they would ensure that the self-styled Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Kwashie Gbolor, will be made to face the full rigours of the law.

Nii Kwame Yedu II also appealed to the Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor, to use their good offices to ensure that justice is delivered.
