Cabbie Dies In Taxi

A man in his mid 30s has been found dead in a taxi cab at Asokwa, a suburb of Kumasi.

The sad incident happened on Thursday behind the Sports Hotel, near the Baba Yara Stadium at about 7pm, Mensah Aborampah, a broadcast journalist, told DAILY GUIDE.

The police have since deposited the body of the deceased at the morgue pending autopsy.

Aborampah, an eyewitness, said the driver parked his vehicle near the Sports Hotel at Asokwa at about 11:30am.

The driver, who was said to be ill, slept at the rear seat of the taxi with registration number AS 7699-14.

A woman, who was passing by, prompted the driver to remove the car keys from the front seat.

The driver reportedly woke up and removed the car’s ignition key after the lady alerted him and returned to the rear seat of the car again.

When the woman was returning home at about 7pm the same day, she realized that the vehicle was at the same spot.

All attempts by the lady to wake the man up proved futile as he (driver) remained motionless.

The lady drew the attention of other people in the area who rushed to the scene.

Aborampah said there were no bruises on the body of the deceased.

He said the case was reported to the police, who retrieved the body and launched investigations into it.
