The under current involved in an ongoing litigations over the who should be the rightful occupant of the Osu Stool appears to have taken a different dimension, as some thugs suspected to have been contracted by some elements within the palace have made a couple of attempts on the life of the Osu Osiahene, Nii Nortey Adumuah IV, who is spiritedly contesting the legitimacy of the Osu Manste at the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

In a statement signed by the Osiahene of Osu, dated August 4, 2015, and dispatched to the Director General CID, the Gt. Accra Regional Minister, the regional Police Commander, and the Osu District Commander, he lodged an official complaint to the police about the verbal threats on his life from the quarters of the embattled Osu Mantse Nii Kinka Dowuona VI.

The Osiahene narrated that the verbal threats and the recent attempts on his life comes in the wake of a press statement issued by some angry youth in Osu on Friday 4th September 2015, against Osu Mantse’s planned banquet to raise funds in the name of the Stool since his locus was still in dispute.

The angry youth in their statement had sternly warned that they were not going to allow the banquet to come off and that Nii Dowuona VI’s pretense that all was well with Osu Chieftaincy must stop.

This, according to the Osiahene, “didn’t go down well with Nii Dowuona VI and so His goons in the palace started issuing threats on my life because he thought I was behind it but in any case if you send threatening messages that ‘you will see’… why don’t you let me live so that we will all see together where the truth lies in the final analysis but rather you want to take me out?”

Nii Adumuah IV stated that initially he thought it was only verbal threats though he did not take it likely and had officially reported to the police, the threats were given full breath of life when recently on three different occasions he realized that a Toyota Highlander, a Honda Civic and a motor bike had been trailing his movements in-and-around town.

He said, this really heightened my fears because “these are the same cars and the motorbike my intelligence source had earlier told me the thugs were using to track me until they get me in a ‘safe’ place and finish me off”.  

One of the names mentioned in the list of thugs as Tony, claims to be a National Security Operative and is on record to have stormed the office (name withheld), to threaten the reporter who filed the Osu Youth press statement with a pistol to demand apology and retraction of that story without basis.

“I dare say, if he the Tony guy carries gun about and parade as National Security person who is protecting the interest of one faction in a chieftaincy dispute then we are all not safe” he stressed.

“I have sent another reminder on 12 /02/2016 to the Director General of CID and copied the Regional Minister, the Gt. Accra Police Commander and the Osu District Commander this time, with detailed information from insider source with names, phone numbers, license plates and colors of cars hoping that these thugs will be arrested and interrogated before something happens to me”, Nii Adumuah IV stated.
