Tension Mounts In NPP Mpiani To Be Suspended?

There are credible reports that the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be meeting by Wednesday, March 2, to discuss one main item-to consider whether a leading member of the party, Mr. Kwadwo Mpiani, should be suspended.

A leading member of the party (who was a former Member of Parliament-MP) told the Daily Dispatch “the council will consider whether it should take the same route it took in having Mr. Paul Afoko suspended- that is petition the Disciplinary Committee. Mr. Mpiani late in his opinion, Mr. Afoko is still the National Chairman of the Party.”

Mr. Mpiani was the Chief of Staff in the administration of former President J.A. Kufour. He, together with the ex-President, were MPs in the Progress Party of the late Dr.K.A. Busia in 1969.

The source explained further, “I think it is right for the Council to consider Mr. Mpiani’s suspension. Is he more NPP than the constituency executives and supporters who have been suspended for saying that they still regarded Mr. Afoko as the National Chairman?”
