Nana Yaa Jantuah Awarded Doctorate Degree

The Commonwealth University London Graduate School has conferred on Nana Yaa Jantuah of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, an honorary Doctorate Degree for her excellent performance in Corporate Public Relations.

Nana Yaa, who is the Director of Public Affairs of the PURC, received the award at a short ceremony, in Accra, on Friday, where eleven other individuals were also honoured with Doctorate Degrees by the Faculty of Business of the University.

A citation signed by the Chancellor, Professor Michael read, “Be it known that Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, having complied with all the requirements of the Faculty of the University and by the Authority of the University Senate, is hereby awarded the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) specialising in Corporate Public Relations (Honoris Causa) and is entitled to all the rights and privileges thereto appertaining in testimony whereof we have granted this Degree under our hands at Belize City”.

The elated laureate told journalists that: “I am happy with this award. It is a plus to all Ghanaian women who are working hard in their various fields; a sign that when given the occasion we can all rise to meet the challenge.

“I am, particularly, happy that my modest contribution in Public Relations generally and Corporate Public Relations, particularly, has been recognised by this great institution.

“I was not even aware that the university was observing my performance from a distance. I thank them for this award, which will spur me on in the profession”.

Nana Yaa also extended gratitude to her Alma Mater, the Ghana Institute of Journalism, she said, for “nurturing me to this level”.

“…It all started there and this award is an indication of the leading role the Institute continues to play in the development of communications experts”.

Ms Jantuah has practised Public Relations for about 25 years, starting as a Public Relations Officer at the Ghana Investment Promotion Council, and then to the Ghana Free Zones Board; and rising to become the Director of the Public Affairs of the PURC.
