Abuakwa North NPP Elects Candidate

The Abuakwa North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today elect a new parliamentary candidate to contest the by - election slated for March 29, 2016.

Six people have been vetted and cleared to contest the primary. They are Mr Kyei - Brobbey, a former headmaster of Ofori Panin Senior High School at Kukurantumi, Professor Samuel Amoako, a former Member of Parliament for the Constituency and Mr. Isaac Osei Ampadu, a businessman.

The rest are Mr Kay Amoah, a legal practitioner and Madam Gifty Twum - Ampofo, a teacher at the Akosombo International School.

However, unconfirmed sources said Mr Kay Amoah has withdrawn from the primary but the first vice chairman of the NPP in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Bodinga, said the party had officially not received any formal withdrawal letter to that effect.

Voting starts at 8 a.m.

In a chat with the Daily Graphic, Alhaji Bodinga said voting at the primary would start at 8a.m. and close at 1 p.m. at the Cocoa Research Institute at Tafo.

In all, he said, 372 delegates would be voting and gave an assurance that everything was under control as the party was ever ready to maintain its hegemony over the National Democratic Congress in the constituency.
