Campaign on Swine Flu ends in Afigya-Kwabre district

A week-long intensive community educational campaign on HINI Influenza popularly called Swine Flu has ended in the Afigya- Kwabre district of Ashanti. The programme which formed part of the nationwide campaign against the pandemic, was organized by the District Assembly to educate the people on social and personal hygiene as well as measures to prevent its spread. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the end of the campaign at Kodie, the district capital, Ms. Rebecca Osei-Mensah, the District Information Officer, said the exercise was successfully carried out in the various communities in the district. She said the people embraced the programme which was transmitted on an Information Service Department (ISD) van and even pleaded that it was extended to schools. Swine Flu is a deadly respiratory disease caused by a strain of the influenza type �A� virus known as HINI. Ghana recorded its first case this year in the Greater Accra Region. So far no swine flu related death has been reported.
