The camp of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Klottey Korle, Dr Zanetor Rawlings has distanced itself from reports of alleged attempts on the life of lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo, one of the counsels for the Klottey Korle MP Nii Armah Ashitey.

According to Dr Zanetor’s lawyer, Edudzi Tamakloe, his client and her camp will be the last to have a hand in any criminal act.

Lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo who is leading the incumbent MP Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey in court to challenge the eligibility of Dr. Zanetor Rawlings who defeated Nii Armah Ashitey in the party’s primary held November 2015, has alleged he’s being trailed by some unknown persons.

Mr Nimako Marfo per a letter addressed to the court hearing the matter, has asked for time to enable him secure security for himself and family.

A copy of the letter intercepted by Kasapafmonline.com said: “We wish to humbly bring to the attention of the honourable court that, counsel for the plaintiff has in recent times been trailed by some unknown persons when driving home after work.

“The said unknown persons immediately drove off when counsel parked at the North Legon Police post to alert the police. A report has been lodged with the Police to that effect.

“In view of the aforesaid, counsel prays that the matter be adjourned to Tuesday March 9, 2016”.

There have been speculations among a section of the public that Nii Armah’s opponent Dr Zanetor Rawling’s camp may be responsible for the threats in an attempt to get them back off the case.

However speaking to Kasapa News, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe dismissed any such thoughts or perception, adding that he further has no basis to dismiss his colleague lawyer’s claim of being trailed.

“My brother Gary is not doing only this case; he’s leading several others including those that relate the NPP. He is also lawyer for the defeated NPP Klottey Korle Parliamentary aspirant Nii Noi who is having issues with his party and the constituency which is currently experiencing tension. Anything can happen from all those other matters. So it cannot be said that it’s because of Zanetor’s case his life is being threatened. I urge persons habouring criminal intentions against Gary to desist from any such acts”.
