Citi Sports can confirm that the Black Stars have not been given their winning bonuses for their 2-0 over Comoros in the preliminary stages of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The match, which was played on November 17 2015 in Kumasi, was settled by goals from Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew.

The result sent the Black Stars into the main qualifying series for the next World Cup.

However, it has emerged that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is yet to pay winning bonuses due the Black Stars.

Each player is owed US$10,000 each and this was confirmed by the Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie to Citi Sports in an exclusive interview.

“There are some outstanding winning bonuses owed the Black Stars. The payment from the win over Comoros has not been made,” Mr Afriyie said

He went on to hint strongly that the GFA would be patient with the Sports Ministry in order to find a resolution.

“There is a new sports minister in office now. We will give him time to settle and look at the issues and he will address them.”

The Black Stars are due to play against Mozambique on the 24th of March in Accra with the second leg in Maputo three days later.
