Scorpion For Court Over Tafohene Attack

FOUR PEOPLE are due for court, possible within this week, over the violent attack on Tafohene, Nana Agyen Frimpong.

The suspects, most of whom have some interesting names, include one Scorpion, Jah Rule, Jacob and Fulani.

They allegedly attacked the Tafohene over the construction of a fence wall at a cemetery at Tafo in Kumasi some weeks ago.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, made the disclosure in an interview on Peace FM.

He said the four had reported to the police and duly written their statements, adding that they would be arraigned soon for assault.

He said the police are presently going through a video recording to help arrest other people who caused trouble during the riots at Tafo.

According to him, even though total calm had been restored to Tafo, the police would make sure that none of the troublemakers went scot-free.

DCOP Kofi Boakye also announced that plans were in the pipeline for people whose properties were destroyed during the riots to be compensated.

He said MP for Asawase, Hon Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak and REGSEC were leading the process for the compensation package.

Like Tafo, the police chief stated, law and order is prevailing now at hitherto troubled spots in the region like Agogo and Jamasi.

He commended the policemen in the region for not pulling the trigger during the riots at Tafo and Jamasi.

DCOP Kofi Boakye prayed that policemen that would be assigned to control rioters would be dressed in bullet proof attire to protect their lives.
