Vincent Oppong Asam-oah, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, has called on Ghanaians to obey electoral laws as the country prepares for the November 7 polls.
He said though government and her partners had stepped up measures to ensure that the country sailed through another credible elections, everyone had specific roles to play to achieve a successful and peaceful poll.
Mr Asamoah who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa West Constituency, said this when he addressed school children and others gathered to mark the 59th Independence Day anniversary at Nkrankwanta.
About 700 school children drawn from 21 schools made up of 11 primary, eight Junior High and a Senior High Schools including three cadet corps took part in the march past.
Mr Asamoah said ensuring a peaceful and credible election is a civic responsibility and every patriotic citizen is expected to play his or her role.
He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government needed an additional four-year mandate to be able to bring development to the doorstep of the citizenry.
Mr Paul Donkor, the Dormaa West District Chief Executive, entreated Ghanaians to abide by the principles and values that has sustained national peace and social cohesion in the past years.
Touching on the theme for the anniversary, “Investing in the youth for Ghana’s transformation”, Mr Donkor said there is the need to inculcate in the youth the spirit of patriotism so that they would be nationalistic when they take over the mandate of leadership.
Awards were given to deserving schools who participated in the march past.
