Farmer Burnt To Ashes

A 37-year-old cocoa farmer, Yaw Asare, native of Akyem-Attakrom in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region, has reportedly been burnt into ashes in his cocoa farm.

His mortal remains have been deposited at the Kyebi Government Hospital awaiting autopsy, while the police are investigating the circumstances leading to his death.

A resident of the area speaking to DAILY GUIDE, said Yaw Asare left home on Monday for his farm but did not return.

According to the Asafoatse, Frank Boateng, he had to mobilise the youth in the community Wednesday morning, and that when they went to Asare’s cocoa farm, they discovered that he had been burnt into ashes.

“When we got to the farm, we only saw part of Yaw Asare’s body lying in a bush as some had gotten burnt into ashes. It was discovered that he had cooked some food which he didn’t even eat.”

Mr. Frank Boateng indicated that he later called the police from Abomosu, who came to convey the body to the hospital.

He further noted that the police would be the best to establish the cause of the farmer’s demise when they were done with their investigation.

DAILY GUIDE’s attempts to contact the Anyinam police commander, Supt. Jeffrey Darko, to confirm or deny the incident proved futile at the time of filing this report.
