Pressure Mounts On Kotoko After Ashgold Draw

Embattled Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the second consecutive time dropped two vital points at home as defending champions, Ashold S/C, forced them to a 0-0 draw game in a Ghana Premier League Match Day Two outstanding fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Wednesday.

For Kotoko, the pressure would continue to mount on them, having amassed only two points from the three matches played so far in the 2015/2016 League.

The results leave the porcupine warriors languishing at the bottom of the log, while the defending champions would also have their title defence on course with five points from three games.

The Miners made their intentions clear right from the on set, piling up pressure on their opponents and nearly broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, but Frederick Quayson’s volley was parried to safety by goalie, Ernest Sowah.

The Porcupine Warriors, two minutes later, were let off the hook as Quayson’s connection to Isaac Amoah’s inswinger missed the target narrowly.

They continued to press the home team until the last quarter of the game when Kotoko’s Dauda Mohammed, combining effectively with Obed Owusu, started penetrating the visitors’ defence.

Dauda saw his 38th minute long-range shot hit the bar and bounced back into play with Obed hesitating to find the back of the net.

Kotoko continued with their high-pressing game in the second half, but Ashgold thwarted their efforts at goal to end the match with shared points.
