GII Calls For Proper Probe Into ISD Error-ridden Independence Brochure

The Executive Director of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Mrs. Linda Ofori Kwafo is calling on government to execute a thorough investigation into the error-ridden Independence Day brochure saga, which has led to the removal of the Acting Director of ISD Francis Kwarteng Arthur.

"We want proper investigations and anybody found to have actually done any wrongdoing should be sacked," she said.

She said an investigation into this matter will save government to clarify the numerous allegations leveled against it in the production of the recent error-ridden brochure.

Mrs. Linda Kwafo in an interview with Joy News said the sacking of Mr. Arthur by government does not help to resolve the matter, therefore government must not seek to shield the real perpetrators involved in this saga.

She asserted that in as much as no investigative body has found the ISD boss culpable of the act committed, his dismissal by government would serve as a deterrent to others especially government workers.

She criticized the act of forcing people out of their positions when they fault the laws of the land as not enough to compensate the crime caused.

“It is not enough when persons are sacked from their position as punishment to the crime caused because such or similar incidents will all the time occur especially in the public sector,” she said.

She added that, “The failure of some government officials to follow the proper laid down rules and procedures governing the public procurement in the country has provided grounds for such acts.”

She called on the Public Services Commission to insist that the public procurement law is adhered to in all public institutions.

However an interview with Joy News showed workers of ISD are excited above human imagination over the removal of their acting Director from office.
