The Asunafo South District Assembly spends GHC 1,800 a week to maintain security at Sankore. The amount is spent on food, drinks and accommodation for the military personnel posted there due to the rampant violent clashes between supporters of the New Patriotic Party and the ruling National Democratic Congress, Mr. Fleance Danso, District Chief Executive, told newsmen. He said part of the assembly�s internally generated fund used to cater for the situation was insufficient and this had compelled the assembly to use part of its share of the common fund. Mr. Danso appealed to the Ministry of Interior and for that matter the national security to, as a matter of urgency, support the district�s efforts. He said the district lagged behind in development because of the clashes and appealed to the people to bury their ethnic, religious and political differences and work in unity for development.
