RLG Settles GYEEDA Debt In Full . . . With Interest

The New Crusading GUIDE can say on authority that two subsidiaries of the AGAMS Group Asongtaba Cottage Industry and RLG Communications Limited have settled in full their indebtedness to the State. The two companies in addition paid in full the interest on the monies.

A third subsidiary of the AGAMS Group, Craftpro had also issued a cheque for Gh¢6,222,441.59 as final full payment which a source at the EOCO has told this paper that it cleared it yesterday. If what the source at the EOCO tells us is the fact, then that would signal the final clearance of a debt of Gh¢61,135,981.27 owed the State.

The three companies owed the Government an amount of Gh¢61,135,981.27, interest inclusive, as a result of loans that were granted to them for the provision of services to the then Ghana Youth Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Development Agency(GYEEDA).

This paper can say that as at 8th March, 206, an amount of Gh¢54,913,639.69 had been recovered by the Attorney General.

RLG paid a total amount of Gh¢7,801.158.18 out of which Gh¢668,670.80 was an interest payment. Asongtaba also paid Gh¢ 45,177,752.60 out of which 3.872,378.80 also represented interest payment.

Out of the full payment of Gh¢8,157.069.50 Crafpro is said to have made, Gh¢698,263.20 was interest payment as well.

RLG and the two other companies in 2013 were ordered to refund the monies to the state after revelations of financial malfeasance between the companies and state actors at GYEEDA

An investigative committee set up to look into the scandal that hit the erstwhile GYEEDA  revealed that RLG received millions of Ghana Cedis to train 15,000 youth in technology initiatives but controversy ensued over the number of people trained. Asongtaba also received millions to train youth in smock making, guinea fowl rearing among others.
