Exclusive Men of the Year Awards Launched

The maiden edition of Ghana’s version of Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Award Africa was launched on Thursday at Alliance Motors showroom in Accra.

The award an initiative of Exclusive Men’s Magazine (EMM), seeks among others to honour and celebrate men of excellence, encourage leadership skills for achievement and to challenge the youth to aspire to greatness.

The award night is slated for June 18, 2016 at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Accra. On the night, 20 outstanding men will be awarded a trophy designed by a French sculptor, for their effort to contribute towards the country and the continent’s growth.

Although it is an award ceremony for men, there will also be an award for the ultimate Woman of the Year.

Speaking at the launch, the Head of the Faculty of the Award scheme, Mr Kwabena Agyekum, said the award would focus on the achievement of men and women who had excelled and made remarkable impact on society in 2015.

He said out of the 20 categories, 14 would be competitive with the remaining six strictly based on the assessment of the Faculty.

“There will be four nominees in each category and the winner will be selected through voting and panel of judges scrutiny ,” Mr Agyekum said.

He said the award was put together to celebrate great achievers and dream makers, adding that these men would be subjected to series of scrutiny to determine whether they merit the award.

Under the competative category, some of the areas which will be looked at include, Man of the Year in; Business, Communication, Governance, Mentorship and the Guardian Award, Best Groomed Man.

Others include, Ultimate Woman of the Year Award, Man of the Year in Philanthropy and Humanitarian Award, Man of the Year in Technology and Inventor award, man of the year in sportsmanship award, Man of the Year in Entertainment and performer award.

Mr Agyekum said the competitive awards would be opened to all to contest, adding that the finalists would be shortlisted after final processes had been reached.

Touching on the honorary awards, he said those would cater for older citizens and statesmen who had contributed their quota to change the progress of humankind.

The categories include the Lifetime Achievement Award, the UN African Personality Award, the Osagyefo Pan African Peace Award, and Posthumous award.
