Phone Thief Jailed 3 Months

The Winneba District Magistrate Court has sentenced a 19-old man to three months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing an Itel Tablet Phone valued at 350.00 Ghana Cedis.

Philip Amusu pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.

Narrating the fact of the case to the court presided over by Mr. Alexander Oworae,  Police Inspector Peter Agbelie said,  the complainant in the case is one Mr. Philip Kittoe a receptionist at Manuel’s Guest House in Winneba and the accused was also a guest at the said guest house.

According to the prosecution on 12th March 2016, complainant was charging his Itel Tablet Phone on the hotel premises but left for the kitchen.

He said, few minutes later, he return but the phone was not at where he was charging it.

Inspector Agbelie said the complainant quickly informed the manager of the guest house and a search was conducted.

The accused who was about checking out of the guest house was confronted and when his bag was searched the said phone was found concealed in one of his cloths.

The accused was handed over to the police and after investigation he was arraigned before the court charge with the offence.

The phone has since been handed over to the complaint as per the orders of the court.
