DCOP Awunis Death A Big Blow To Us Father

Step father to the late DCOP Awuni Angwubutoge, Naba Adoobire Atanloko, says he received the news of the sudden demise of his son DCOP Awuni with shock since he was not aware of his son’s short illness.

Naba Atanloko said this to Citi News at the late Awuni’s family house, where family members and friends had gathered to mourn him.

His step-father, who doubles as the Chief of Zuarungu-Moshie, explained that the death of Awuni was not only a tragedy but a big blow to the family.

He further appealed to the authorities to bring the remains of his son home for burial.

“This is what God has given to me, what I will say, I did not hear anything of his ill-health but what will I say, I give everything to God. He has not complained about any problem at the workplace before, so I can’t lie that someone caused his death but if someone is behind his death, God knows all. But what I know is that God has called him,” he lamented.

Naba Atanloko added that the death of Awuni will negatively affect community school children since he supported their education.

“Anytime he comes home, he loves to see the family united, he used to help me and the community especially in supporting the education of the school children. He supported school children in their education and now that he is no more, my house is in a total mess,” Atanloko added.

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Angwubutoge Awuni died last Sunday at the Police Hospital after a short illness.

Until his recent transfer to the Eastern Region, he had served as the National Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Police Commander of Yendi and Nima in the Northern and Greater Accra regions respectively. He is loved by many who view him as one of the most hardworking police officers for his firmness and strong principles.
