Pupils Ignore Classrooms For Mushroom Expedition - Headmaster Laments

The Headmaster of Buabin Methodist Basic school, a farming community near Dunkwa-on-offin in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality in the Central Region has said some pupils in his school have been truant due to a booming mushroom business in the area.

Mr. Arthur lamented that the students however prefer hunting for mushrooms in the near forest to schooling.

The situation according to him have affected the academic performances of some students in the Buabin community.

Mr. Arthur made this known in an interview with Solar news on Wednesday evening.

Mr. Arthur said the school children between 10 to 16 years have resort to mushroom business to earn money.

He added that the school also lacks adequate teaching and learning materials.
