MP Gets Death Threat

The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Major (rtd) Derick Oduro, has been threatened with death by some faceless persons.

The letter threatening the MP was found on his compound when his houseboy was sweeping the place.

The retired Major has since reported the matter to the Speaker of Parliament and the IGP.

The threat, which is coming on the heels of the gruesome murder of  the Abuakwa MP, J.B. Danquah-Adu, is being treated as a serious matter and his constituency executives are calling for the security agencies to protect their MP since anything can happen to him. Below is the threat which was in the form of a letter without a signatory:

“22 February 2016

Hon Major Derick Oduro

MP Nkoranza North

I want to inform you that we will not allow you to organize any press conference in Nkoranza. We will chase you anywhere you go and finish you. When you are in your grave come back and fight for DKM or God Is Love money for your people. If you are dead come back and organize people to throw water at your DCE. If you can come back from your grave tell Bank of Ghana and the Government to pay back the money to the people.

Your days are numbered.

Thank, you dead goat.”

It will be recalled that Major Oduro has been leading the fight to compel the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the NDC government to pay investors in the Brong Ahafo Region whose monies were locked up with some investment companies in the region. Major Oduro and the Brong Ahafo NPP Parliamentary Caucus recently organised a series of press conferences to draw the attention of government to the rip-off and accused the Bank of Ghana of not doing a good job to safeguard the investments of the investors since it was the BoG that gave them interim license to operate. During one of the series of press conferences at Nkoranza, the DCE of Nkoranza North, Kwadwo Adjei Dwomoh, who was present, was pelted with sachet water when he attempted to defend the government on the issue. He had to be whisked away by the police when the angry investors menacingly surged towards the high table.

Meanwhile because of the curse invoked by the youth on the EC not to organise any District Assembly elections in both Nkoranza North and South Districts, the two districts still do not have assembly members.
