Avoid Politicising Medical Issues

Professor Danso Boafo , former Minister of Health, has advised residents of Kibi to stop politicising issues at the Kibi Government  Hospital  to enable medical personnel to do their best.

He said the Government intended to raise the standard  of the Hospital to a teaching  hospital  because of its catchment area.

Prof  Boafo, who was speaking at the inauguration of the Advisory Board of the Kibi Government Hospital, therefore, appealed to residents to help the hospital to get accommodation for the medical personnel and specialists posted to work there.

He  also urged the people of Kibi to support the Advisory Board to provide the necessary support to the management of the Hospital to enable them to provide the best of service.

Dr (Mrs) Charity  Sarpong, the Eastern Regional Director of  Health  Services, appealed to the 15-member advisory board to take time to understand the mandate of the hospital, their vision and mission and identify areas of support.

She reminded the members of the board that their role was advisory and support, saying: "On no occasion does the policy of the Ministry of Health permit the advisory board to take over the responsibilities of the management of the hospital."

The East  Akim Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Simon Peter Asirifi, observed that as a result of illegal mining in the area, rent for accommodation in the Municipality was very high.

He, therefore, appealed to the citizens of Kibi and surrounding communities to assist public servants posted to the area to get affordable accommodation.

Dr  Charles Nyarko, the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, appealed  for new vehicles  and accommodation for the staff of the hospital.

Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, the Queenmother of the Akim Abuakwa Traditional Area, asked her people to provide the needed support for the development of the Hospital.
