Mahamas Optimism In Nov. Polls Mere Illusion Sammy Awuku

The National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, says President John Dramani Mahama would be living in a state of illusion to think that he is the preferred candidate for many Ghanaians ahead of the November polls.

Sammy Awuku, who was addressing some tertiary students in Ho on Thursday, said the President has failed to take cognizance of the level of despondency among the citizenry and is rather giving himself false hopes.

“One thing that President Mahama doesn’t know is that, sometimes when you are losing elections you don’t see it well. The feeling is funny. When anybody says something, you think it they are disturbing you. When the youth of the country are saying you are failing and you tickle yourself and say JM toaso [continue]; you keep going and the people you are leading would advise themselves.”

“You are only a leader when you stand and the people are following you. The moment as a leader you turn and the people are no longer following you, then you are only taking a walk”. The NPP led by its Vice Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, have been in the Volta Region for a tour where he addressed students on the various tertiary campuses.
