Suspected Robber Lynched At Tema

A SUSPECTED armed robber believed to be in his late 20s, has been lynched at Vic Boss junction at Community 22, Tema, along the Tema-Akosombo Highway, for allegedly attempting to rob a house.

The suspect, who could not be immediately identified by the residents, was said to have gone on an operation a night before but luck eluded him when some youth saw him and gave him a hot chase. He was eventually caught when he reportedly ran into a big gutter.

He was believed to have committed robbery with some accomplices who managed to escape; but he was purportedly lynched somewhere and abandoned at the junction.

When DAILY GUIDE visited the scene, scores of residents had trooped to the place to catch a glimpse of the deceased, with some women weeping uncontrollably.

Machete, pieces of stick and stones which were said to have been used to lynch the man were found around him.

A closer look at the deceased showed that he had his hand almost cut off, likewise the feet.

An eyewitness, Mr. Francis Annan, who narrated the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said residents of the area had been having sleepless nights as suspected armed robbers kept terrorizing them.

He alleged that the armed robbery cases had been reported to the police on several occasions but nothing had been done about them.

The eyewitness pleaded with residents, especially the youth, to desist from carrying out instant justice on suspects and urged them to instead arrest and hand them over to the police for investigations.

This, Mr. Francis Annan believed, would help the police in their work of pursuing the perpetrators and retrieve all stolen goods from them.
