Nursing Mother Raped

A teenage boy, who claims to be 13 years, is said to have sexually assaulted and wounded a nursing mother of Fulani extraction at Adaklu-Adavanu in the Volta Region.

The suspect, Godsway Ekpe, is reported to have severely beaten the victim, Roja Ibrahim, after she had refused to allow him to sleep with her in a bush. The suspect is also alleged to have among other things, bitten the right ear and lips of the victim and inserted his finger in her private part.

A brother-in-law of Roja Ibrahim, Nuhu Ibrahim, who narrated the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said Godsway ambushed the victim while she was going to get some herbs in a nearby bush to treat herself Monday afternoon.

He said while Roja was on her way to the bush, Godsway met her and requested to buy wagashie –a local meal made from fermented, fried, cow milk – but the victim, seeing his request to be suspicious, told him it wasn’t available.

Godsway still persisted, despite the fact that Roja did not carry any wagashie. She ignored him and continued to the bush.

Unknown to her, Godsway followed her and laid ambush. He later allegedly pounced on the woman with intent to have sex with her, but she refused. This angered Godsway, who then subjected her to severe beatings and bites.

He is also alleged to have fondled certain parts of Roja’s body.

When DAILY GUIDE visited the Ho Municipal Hospital where the 20-year-old victim was receiving treatment, visible bite wounds could be seen all over her body with parts of her right ear bitten off.

When contacted, the Ho Municipal Crime Officer of the Police Service, ASP Appeatu Frikyi, confirmed the incident saying the case was reported to his office on Wednesday, 23rd March at about 9:00 am by Ibrahim Abubakar, brother of the victim.

The suspect has since been arrested and detained at the police station. He said they were yet to verify his (suspect’s) real age. He could not confirm whether the teenager was acting under the influence of drugs.

ASP Frikyi said that Godsway would be arraigned before a magistrate court today, 24th March, 2016.
