Aplaku Wulomo, Numo Tetteh Nartey II, together with elders of Aplaku Stool of James Town in Ga Mashie, the indigenous owners of Tetegu Lands in the Ga South Municipality, has, once again, cautioned persons who wish to buy lands at Tetegu to ensure that they transact business with the right people.

Consequently they charged prospective land buyers interested in Tetegu lands to avoid dealing with any unauthorised persons.

According to them, some illegitimate persons who claim to be owners of Tetegu lands were using very coercive approaches to deceive unsuspecting individuals and organisations with regard to Tetegu lands.

And this worrying development, the Aplaku Wulomo and his elders stressed, was creating unnecessary tension in the area.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Today in a follow-up to an earlier publication which gave hint of Aplaku Stool’s intention to eject land owners who illegally acquired lands in Tetegu from unauthorised persons, Numo Tetteh Nartey II stressed that the next time any individual or organisation considers buying lands for whatever purpose at Tetegu they should deal with either him (Numo Tetteh Nartey II) or the accredited elders of Aplaku Stool  at James Town and not any chief or elder(s) of Tetegu community.

According to Numo Tetteh Nartey, the chief and elders of Tetegu who are predominantly non-natives, mostly migrants from the Volta region, were only given power of attorney to take care of Tetegu lands and not authorised to sell lands to any individual or organisation.

He pointed out that the acres of lands at Tetegu community as “we have always maintained is eloquently captured and same is potently clear on the judgment plan of a judgment delivered by His Lordship, Justice N.M.C. Abodakpi.

He noted that that declaration was made in connection with a case “Nii Kojo Danso l (substituted by Samuel Nii Arku Danso) who was the plaintiff versus Ayittah Tsuru, the Land Commission and Tare Property Development Company Limited, the defendants.”

According to Numo Tetteh Nartey, it was important to note that the said judgment still stands since same has not been challenged and overturned.

He pointed out that it was important to note once more that during the pendency of the case, it came to the fore that the subject (the land) matter of the suit formed part of the total land belonging to the Aplaku Stool of James Town in Ga Mashie.

Numo Tetteh Nartey stated that some elders of Aplaku and Tetegu took advantage of his long absence after he was hospitalised to sell Tetegu lands to unsuspecting individuals and organisations with a forged signature of him without his consent and knowledge.

He, therefore, cautioned the general public to be aware of these issues and take precautionary measures when acquiring any portion of land in Tetegu from anyone he has not mandated, adding that persons who allow themselves to be duped, do so at their own risk.
