Chief Hijacks Community Water Facility At Klikor

The Paramount Chief of Klikor Traditional Area, Togbega Addo VIII, is reported to have allegedly hijacked the main water facility, which supplies water to Klikor and its surrounding areas in the Volta Region.

According to this paper’s sources, the Paramount Chief has managed to sideline the Assemblymen, District Assembly of his area and a former management Board of the facility, and taken over the sole administration/management of the facility without accounting to the District Assembly or the Klikor community for so many years leading to some agitations by the people.

A trip to the water facility site by our scouts revealed  that the reservoir is rusting, and  an urgent renovation but clearly Togbe Addo VIII who is alleged to be managing the facility  is only interested in the monies his agent collects at the sale point rather than maintaining the facility to benefit the entire community.

According to the reliable sources, it was the world vision International which mechanized the facility in the 1990s.

The source indicated that a management Board was put in place in 2002-2013 to take care of the Project but Togbe Addo III managed to get the Board put aside for him to take full responsibility of the facility as he operates it as his personal property.

Our Sources further stated that any Assemblyman who attempts to get the right thing done by ensuring that the Assembly plays an oversight role, the Paramount Chief would fight them till they are fed up.

Our source therefore called on the President, John Mahama and the National House of Chiefs including the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area to call Togbe Addo VIII to order since his actions are not helping to properly manage a water facility bequeathed to them by Government and World Vision International.

The source said angry youth have threatened to demonstrate against the Paramount Chief, for him to hand over the facility to the Assembly to manage in a transparent manner; to benefit the entire community and not the Chief and his family alone.

All effort to reach Togbe Addo VIII prove futile since his phone has been off for past three days.
