Herbalist Gives 63 Students Scholarship In Tamale

As part of effort to fortify vulnerable young girls in northern region through education, Dr Hajia Salamtu Obrahim Taimako, a herbalist who has never tasted education has giving scholarship to 63 brilliant but needy students to pursue Agric course at Business College International (BCI).

The scheme will last for a decade – in every year, twenty people will benefit from the ‘Taimako scholarship’.

The students who will be studying at BCI expressed delight for the opportunity given them whiles pledging to fully utilize it well.

They however commended Dr Hajia Salamtu for her kind gesture - “May the Good Lord blessed Hajia Taimako scholarship program."

Director of the school, Mr Taimako also expressed happiness that beneficiaries of the scholarship will enroll in his school for better education.

“More than half of Northerners cannot push their children to senior high school due to poverty, but rather force them into marriage and ( kayayei) business, which I saw the need with Hajia my mother to support education in the region,” he said.
