One of the two banned National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives from entering Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panin’s palace, Bismark Tawiah Boateng has stated categorically that Okyeman cannot ban him.
According to the NDC Eastern Regional Chairman, he has not offended Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panyin in any way to warrant a ban from the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council.
The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has banned two executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) namely, Messrs Bismark Tawiah Boateng and Appau Wiredu Haruna, from entering the king’s palace.
Bismark is the Regional Chairman whiles Haruna is the Youth Organizer in the region.
A letter from the Council and signed by its Assistant State Secretary, D.M Ofori-Atta said the two NDC executives have been banned for disrespecting the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, over the past three years.
This was in response to a letter indicating the regional minister’s visit to the palace on Friday, April 1, 2016.
“The Council wishes to indicate their displeasure at the disrespectful conduct of the two gentlemen against the person of His Majesty Okyehene over the past three years and thus will be unable to tolerate their presence at the Ofori Panin Fie,” the letter indicated.
But reacting to the ban letter on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Bismark Tawiah Boateng said he would have joined the Regional Minister to Ofori Panin Fie if not his doctor advising him not to travel long distance with his bandage leg.
“I would have followed the Regional Minister to Okyeman’s palace for them to stone me to death so that the whole world will hear of it that as a party chairman, I have been stoned to death. I would not be the first person to die,” he indicated.
“ . .but to tell me that I should not go to a certain town but you can visit other towns, why should it be like that? Nobody can ban me anywhere. I have not committed murder; I have not stolen or created chaos and invited foreigners in town to train others to cause unrest. I have also not utter a word of disrespect to the Okyehene,” he emphasized.
He indicated that it will be difficult to comply with the ban as he is a native of Akyem Ahwenease where the palace is situated; thus he cannot abandon the Akwesidae festival in his hometown.
