Andre Ayew To Miss Stoke Clash

The Swans midfielder has been ruled out of the weekend's game against the Potters after failing to recover from a knee injury.

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew will miss Swansea City's visit to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday as they lock horns with Stoke City in the English Premier League.

The 26-year-old suffered an ankle injury three weeks ago and travelled to France to see an expert but trained earlier this week with his side.

There were hopes that he would return to full fitness after missing the club's last two league games with Bournemouth and Aston Villa as well as Ghana's Afcon double-header against Mozambique.

However, Swansea have confirmed that the Ghanaian will play no part against Stoke but is expected to regain fitness before their home game against Chelsea.

“Jefferson Montero and Modou Barrow are due to train on Friday following their involvement with Ecuador and Gambia, but Andre will Ayew miss out as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury," a club statement read.

“The Ghanaian is expected to return in time for the home clash with Chelsea,” it added.

Ayew is Swansea's second top scorer with eight goals in 28 games, one behind Gylfi Sigurosson.
