My Contenders Are No Match Nana Yaa

One of the toughest categories in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is the Female Vocalist of the Year and one of the ladies in contention is Nana Yaa who believes she stands tall among the rest.

The other competitors in the category are Adina, Irene Logan, Efya, Yaa Yaa and MzVee.

However, Nana Yaa is of the view that the award must come to her because her voice speaks for itself.

“I am Nana Yaa the Voice and everyone knows what I stand for. I am not disputing the fact that the other contenders are good. I really admire those I am contesting with but no one comes close me” she told Showbiz in an interview on Tuesday.

Nana Yaa explained that she is always on top of her game and her song E Go Be even says it all.

“I just released E Go Be and it got nominations in the VGMA plus I have had the opportunity to play at a lot of corporate shows including organising my own show at +233”

Though Nana Yaa believes she stands tall among the contenders in the category, she is ready to throw her weight behind anyone who emerges winner.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards comes off on May 7 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

According to her, no female artiste has been able to fill her position yet after she took a long break from the music scene to take care of some family business.

The mother of two feels no female artiste has gotten to her level yet even though some of them are trying their best.

Asked which female artiste she admires, Nana Yaa said she will go for Wiyaala and Irene Logan because they are talented in their own ways.

Nana Yaa is ready to release her latest single Handkerchief which features Samini. The love song which will be out on April 6 was produced by Kwame Yeboah of ObY fame.

Daughter of Ghanaian music legend Pat Thomas, Nana Yaa who has worked with musicians such as Sonnie Badu, Osibisa, Rex Omar, Okyeame Kwame, Tagoe Sisters, Becca, among others said her fans should watch out for her this year as she brings out more hit songs.

She also seized the opportunity to thank Kojo Antwi for giving her the platform to exhibit her talent.

“Kojo helped me a lot. He has been instrumental in my music career and I want to once again thank him for that”, she added.
