Prison Officer Killed In Accident

A PRISON Officer stationed with the Ekuase Local Prison in Sekondi, who was knocked down by a vehicle last Saturday, has died.

He was pronounced dead at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, where he was rushed to soon after the accident.

The deceased, Lance Cpl. Daniel Amponsah, 32, was reportedly riding a motorbike around 7p.m. when, upon reaching a spot near the St John's School Gate, he collided with the car.

An eyewitness told The Finder that an on-coming vehicle ran over him in the process, making his condition very critical.

He was subsequently rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi but all efforts by the doctors and nurses to save his life did not materialise.

His body has since been deposited at the hospital's morgue whilst investigations continue.
