Surgeon: NPP Had No Reason To Lose Power

The immediate past chairman of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC), Professor Frimpong Boateng has stated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had no reason to lose the 2008 elections to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). This according to the renowned heart surgeon is against the backdrop of the partys excellent performance in office throughout the eight years it took charge of the nations affairs. He said the partys failure to aptly deal with heightened perceptions that the party was full of arrogant officers, drug dealers and a bunch of womanizers among others, largely contributed to the partys inability to retain power. The former presidential aspirant made these observations over the weekend in Kumasi as guest speaker during a welcoming forum for fresh students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Tertiary students confederacy (TESCON) of NPP. Though the former Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital strongly believes the NPP has a brighter chance of recapturing power in the 2012 polls, he warned the dream could be a mirage, if creeping intolerance within the party is not discouraged. Forewarning that the ruling NDC will not treat the NPP with kid gloves in the upcoming elections, Prof Boateng advised the NPP to start getting its act together for the uncompromising battle that lies ahead.
