Asunafo South Assembly Confirms DCE

The Asunafo South District Assembly has confirmed Mr Christian Oppong Frimpong, a former tutor at the Offinso College of Education, as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

He polled 35 out of 39 votes, constituting 89.74 per cent of the valid votes cast by the 40-member Assembly.

The election was supervised the District office of the Electoral Commission.

Mr Frimpong thanked the assembly members, the chiefs and people of the District for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with all stakeholders for the realisation of the government’s social and economic policies to enhance the livelihood of the people. 

He called for unity among the residents in the District so that they could forge ahead to surmount the numerous challenges like illiteracy, poverty and diseases confronting them.

Mr Joseph K. B. Tang, the District Coordinating Director, appealed to members to give Mr Frimpong the necessary support and co-operation.

He said the District needed a DCE with a strong political will and the cooperation of all to speed up its progress. 

Mr Ben Issah Ahmed, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, urged the members to bury their differences and work with commitment and dedication to meet the aspirations of the people.

mr Frimpong replaced Mr Atta Bosompem who had been the DCE since 2009 till a couple of months ago when President John Dramani Mahama appointed the former to take over from him.
