Research Predicts Run-Off In 2016 Polls; Says NPP Will Win By 51.7%

A research conducted by a Senior Lecturer at the Statistics Department of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ezekiel Nii Noye Nortey, has revealed that none of the two political parties with large followers, the ruling National Democratic Congress  (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will secure a first round victory in the 2016 Presidential elections.

The findings of the research suggest that a run-off will determine which political party will govern the country for the next four years.

However, it puts the NPP ahead of the NDC, revealing that the elephant family will secure 51.7% of the total votes cast to win the mandate of the people.

The NDC, according to the findings will score 48.3%.

Prof Nortey in an interview on TV3 said he used previous election results coupled with assumptions and presumptions to determine the outcome of his work without considering the situations the political parties find themselves in at the moment.

His work follows similar findings from the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) which also puts the NPP ahead of the NDC in the November 7 polls.
