Bolgatanga Traditional Council Speaks On Bolga Chieftaincy Dispute; Calls For Calm

The Bolgatanga Traditional Council has condemned the chieftaincy dispute that rocked Bolgatanga Municipality some days ago and called on all members of the two royal gates to allow peace restore in the municipality.

The President for the Bolgatanga Traditional Council, Naba Johnson Awuni, who addressed a news conference in Bolgatanga, said there was the need for members of the two factions to eschew taking the law into their own hands and appealed to authorities of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs to expedite the trial on the issue to enable peace prevail in the municipality.

Naba Awuni, who is also the chief of Yorogo, said he was saddened by the severe injuries that some residents in the municipality sustained during the Sunday's clash.

"We understand the legal process needs to be followed critically and systematically as the wheels of justices is known to grind slowly, notwithstanding the consciousness of this fact, we call on all stakeholders involved in finding a solution to this dispute to hasten the processes for a resolution to the issue", he added.

He also eulogised the security services in the region for their timely intervention in derailing the renewed chieftaincy turmoil from escalating.
