KNUST Forestry Faculty admits 108 fresh students

The Faculty of Forest Resources Technology of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Friday held its 6th matriculation ceremony on the Sunyani campus of the faculty. In all, 108 fresh students, including 16 females, were inducted to pursue a four-year degree programme in Forest Resource Technology. Professor William Otoo Ellis, Pro-Vice Chancellor of KNUST, who had earlier administered the matriculation oath, urged the new students to make maximum use of the opportunity so as to impact positively on the lives of people in the society. He asked for the judicious and profitable use of their time adding be cautiously adventurous and make sure you explore your talents to the full. The Pro-Vice Chancellor advised them to be of good behaviour and law-abiding, stressing that any breach of the University rules and regulations would lead to dismissal. I would like to caution all of you that you all came to this University as individuals and therefore, you take individual responsibility for any action or inaction on your part. The University is governed by rules which serve as margins of everybodys freedom. Hiding under the umbrella of groups and misconducting yourself can cause your withdrawal, rustication or prosecution, he stressed. Prof. Ellis asked the matriculants to take inspiration from the achievements of some alumni of KNUST including the immediate past United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Kofi Annan, and former Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, who continue to affect positively the political and socio-economic landscape of the country and beyond.
