Community Police Assistants Begin Training

A five-week training for one hundred females as Community Policing Assistant Recruits is underway at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Winneba.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah Commandant of the Command and Staff College, urged the participants to participate fully in the training.

She said the programme, which is part of the National Employment Agency, is to provide extra human resource to complement the efforts of the police in the management of security and vehicular traffic in the communities.

She said its objectives are to equip the participants (recruits) with the requisite knowledge, skills and capabilities to enable them contribute their quota towards the development the country.

ACP Addo-Danquah said the core functions of the Police Service is crime prevention, protecting lives and properties and in this regard the recruits will be provided with good insight into the process of developing effective communication skills with the members of the public.

“I encourage you all to become actively engaged in the various training sessions and discussions for you to be well-informed to execute yours duties as require of you to help at creating an enabling environment to live in, she said.

The commencement was observed by officials from Effutu Municipal Assembly, Central Regional and the Municipal Directorates of the National Youth Employment Agency and some parents of the recruits.
