No Nations Security Is Run On Prophecies - Rev Opuni Frimpong

General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong says Ghana does not need a prophet to predict possible terrorist attack on the country as neighbouring countries have suffered bomb attacks.

“Before anybody prophesying about the possible attacks on Ghana, we are aware of what has happened to our neighbouring countries in Burkina Faso, Mali and Ivory Coast. We don’t need a prophet or priest to tell us that there can be a possible attack in Ghana,” he stated.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Rev Dr. Opuni Frimpong admitted his believe in prophecies as a Christian, but reminded that the nation’s security does not run on the back of prophecies and predictions.

He added that when it comes to state security, it is based on trained and professional security personnel to come out with intelligent information about terrorism attacks in the country.

“We as the clergy, if God speaks to us, we only pray about it but rather it will take the security experts to work with their intelligence to prevent any possible attack. Ghana police has already given security alert that we should be vigilant to report suspecting people at a gathering and at certain areas,” he added.

Rev Dr. Opuni feared that as the country continues to allow certain people in Land Cruiser with tainted glasses to pass by at certain places without security checks Ghana does not need a prophet to tell us to beef up our security measures.

“We can only pray about it but those who have the responsibility to ensure the security of the country should be up and doing, and if not then something can happen to us.”

“By now, there should be some sort of education on social protection and security to determine what the police, the chiefs, Imams and clergy and the ordinary people who organise events for people can do to protect them. There should be security tit bit on how to address security matters,” he added.

He therefore bemoaned that since the announcement of security alert in this country, there is no any improvement; thus he has been expecting to see the police do seminars with the churches, mosque on security alerts without waiting for prophesy to create fear and panic in the country.
