'Accounting To The People' Tour Is Abuse Of Incumbency - Mac Manu Accuses Mahama

The election 2016 Campaign Manager for the NPP, Peter Mac Manu has accused President John Dramani Mahama of being a partial leader as his tour across the country is mainly for him to hide behind the tour to solicit for votes for the upcoming polls.

According to him, his tour was supposed to be neutral but it has rather turned the other way round with massive political campaign, while he continually brags of being a father for all in his leadership style.

He said “As a growing democracy, we should be able to distinguish between purely party campaign activities from government activities, because these are the areas of concern in abuse of incumbency and how they relate to impartiality in elections.”

He said for him, he feels the President is abusing his incumbency on this issue “Because if you use government activities to portray the image of your party’s activities then I think that is an unfair treatment to your other presidential candidates.”

“Is the president the one accounting to the people of Ghana or the NDC party who is accounting to the people. From my look of things I believe the President is hiding behind his tour which he has named ‘accounting to the people’ to solicit votes for his party for the coming polls,” he categorically stated in an interview with CITI FM news.

He noted that even though it is true that the president inaugurated some projects in areas he has visited, he tells nothing positive after commissioning the project than issues concerning his party and the fact that he should again be voted for as the President of this country, when the tour was not meant for such a purpose.

He indicated that, it is never true that the NPP embarked on the same projects and strategy used by the NDC now when they were in power.

"Occurrences that took place over ten years ago should not be given the space to be repeated ten years after they have occurred."

“What kind of society do we belong to that allows us to always go back to history supporting the evil things, which have taken place so many years ago,” he said.
