Happy FM Threatens Court Action Against Prophet Obinim

Management of Accra-based radio station, Happy FM, is threatening to institute legal action against the General Overseer of International God’s Way Church, Prophet Daniel Obinim.

The move by managers of Happy FM comes in the wake of the recent outburst of the man of God that he has infected one of the station’s presenters, Nyansa Boakwa—host of Nsɛm Pii, with HIV and Aids.

Fuming with anger, management of Happy FM charged Prophet Obinim to react and apologies to Mr. Boakwa and the station else they would drag him to law court to seek redress.

At a press conference in Accra yesterday, Programmes Manager of Happy FM, Mr. Kwesi Sarpong, lamented the action of Prophet Obinim, noting that the kind of words used on their presenter by the man of God were highly unfortunate, and stressed the need for him to render an unqualified apology or face legal action.

“We are speaking with our lawyers and considering legal action against Prophet Obinim if he fails to apologise and retract the statements and also continues to malign the station and its personalities in his utterances,” Mr. Sarpong stressed.

He explained that Prophet Obinim on April 8, 2016 categorically stated that he had infected Nyansa Boakwa with HIV.

Mr. Sarpong added that Obinim went on to claim that he has rendered Nyansa, who is a father of four, impotent.

According to him, the Nsɛm Pii host will go blind and also dragged his daughter into his rants.

It will be recalled that weeks ago, Prophet Obinim and and a Kumasi-based fetish priest, Ͻkomfoᴐ Yaw Appiah, were in the news about the latter’s claims that he was the source of spiritual power for Obinim.

Mr. Sarpong noted that both men agreed on countless occasions on Happy FM to compete on who was spiritually strong.

He asserted “much as the Happy FM family and its millions of listeners will want to let all this slide as part of the gimmicks we have come to associate with Obinim, it has become imperative that we express our utmost disgust at such unsubstantiated claims that have the potential to not only defame but to unduly drag into ridicule, the image and integrity of our presenter and his family.”

He further explained that throughout this whole Obinim/Ͻkomfoᴐ Yaw Appiah saga, the station has been very professional in its reportage.

“We have been absolutely professional and conducted this religious story which has far-reaching social and cultural consequences without bias, malice and with absolute fairness to all involved,” he said

He noted that Happy FM has no squabbles with Obinim but as a media house that prides itself in being professional, “we will not let any member of the society trample upon our integrity.”

Mr. Sarpong also disclosed that Obinim has also alleged that a certain pastor has bribed Nyansa Boakwa to orchestrate a plan to “disgrace” him (Obinim).

“This allegation is unfounded and we challenge him to disclose who this pastor is, and what the nature of the bribe is,” he averred.

For his part, Mr. Boakwa said he is HIV negative and also debunked the potent claims by ironically saying, “I even made love to my wife just yesterday.”

To buttress his HIV stance, Mr. Boakwa also brought a copy o an HIV text he conducted just after Obinim’s allegation.
