Bag Snatchers Nabbed In Accra

Two young men believed to be behind incidents of bag snatching at Osu, Accra, have been arrested by the Osu District Police Command.

They have been identified as Emmanuel Adumuah, 20, a commercial motorbike rider, and Michael Addo,18, a motorbike mechanic. 

They were arrested after they had allegedly attacked a woman and snatched her bag.

The victim (name withheld) is a final-year Law student in Accra. She is said to have been attacked on her return from lectures.

The incident happened near a spot known as ‘Revenue Office’ at Papaye Down, Osu, about 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

The police said the victim claimed the two men who were on a motorbike snatched her bag after threatening her.

Items retrieved 

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Osu District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Gladys Mpere, said although the two went into hiding after the alleged attack, some residents who had witnessed the incident assisted in their arrest.

She said one of the eyewitnesses succeeded in giving a vivid description of the suspects, which helped in their apprehension moments after the incident.

The police were also able to retrieve the victim’s hand bag.

Other items retrieved from the suspects were cash of GH¢1,000, an iPad, a voters identity card and a National Health Insurance Scheme card.

Mrs Mpere said the suspects were cooperating with investigations.
