Embattled head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, has reportedly tabled a new proposal for a review of his current contract and asking for $5,000, among other demands
The Japanese-born American tactician also wants a one-year contract to expire at the end of the season.
A source close to the board and the Strategic Committee of the club told the Graphic Sports that Kenichi’s posturing in the last few months since the Premier League began was rather intriguing and smacked of bad faith.
He posited that considering all that management, particularly the board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, had done to enhance his compensation package, the coach had displayed gross disrespect to the authority of the club.
“When he first signed the contract to coach Hearts, he agreed to take home $1,600 a month until Togbe intervened and asked that the package be enhanced with a $400 addition to the salary.
“We still can’t understand why Kenichi wants a new contract for only one year after he had signed a two-year contract to coach Hearts,” he lamented.
He said since taking over, Kenichi had always insisted that the club travelled two days ahead of their league matches thereby compelling the club to incur additional cost.
Vincent Sowah Odotei, head of the Strategic Committee of Hearts, would not confirm this recent twist, insisting the club remained buoyant and poised for action.
“We don’t have financial problems at this stage and I can tell you that Togbe had released another GH¢120,000 to settle our financial obligations”, he added.
