Ex-convict goes to jail for unlawful entry and stealing

A magistrate�s court at Tuobodom in Techiman Municipality, has sentenced Kwasi Tawiah, a 23-year old ex-convict, to four years imprisonment in hard labour for unlawful entry and stealing. The suspect, who is farmer, pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing 700 Ghana cedis and a cell phone belonging to Gideon Kubayire, also a farmer at Kyerediagya village near Tuobodom. Police Sergeant David Alhassan told the court presided by Mr. Issah Abdul Wahab that Tawiah sneaked into complainant�s room and stole the money and the phone. Prosecution said Kubayire�s brother spotted the suspect come out of the complainant�s room but he (suspect) bolted. Sgt. Alhassan said some one stopped and joined the taxi that was carrying Kubayire and the witnesses to locate the ex-convict only to turn out to be the suspect they were looking for. Proecution said the suspect was sent to the police station where he confessed that he stole the phone and not the money.
