MiDA Trains 1,300 Farmers In Akuapem South

Dr Godfred Osei Bonsu Twum, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuampem South, has commended management of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) for its contribution towards the socio-economic development of the area. He said the MiDA had so far trained 1,300 farmers in agriculture and were currently preparing a business plan to be presented to banks in the municipality for financial assistance to the farmers. Dr Osei Bonsu Twum made the commendation at the Assembly�s First Ordinary Meeting in Nsawam at the week-end. He expressed the hope that the skills acquired by the farmers through the training would assist them to increase food production to generate more income and improve their standard of living. Dr Osei Bonsu Twum said the MiDA would rehabilitate roads in five communities in the municipality to enable the farmers cart foodstuffs to the marketing centres. The roads included Amoyaw Junction to Kwame Ntow, Yawduodu to Oboadaka and Prepraw junction. Mr Justice Kingsley Yeboah, Presiding Member of the Municipal Assembly, promised to work towards peace and development in the municipality. Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, urged the assembly members to initiate measures to increase revenue generation for more development.
