Voter Registration In Ledzokuku Peaceful

The voter registration exercise in the Ledzokuku Krowor area has recorded no incident in its first three days of registration.

A visit to three out of the seven designated centres for the first phase of the registration revealed the eagerness of people who have just turned 18 to be captured onto the register to enable them exercise their civic responsibility of participating in the electoral process.

Others who are taking part in the process are persons who have lost their voters’ registration cards, The Finder has learned.

The first seven registration centres are Neighbourhood, Anglican Primary, Aboma Primary, Akosombo 1&2, Presby Church, Children’s Library and Gonno School.

At Children’s Library centre, where registration was ongoing when The Finder got there, Ms Zipporah C. Arkah, Assistant Registration Officer, detailed that there has been no confrontation since the process started.

“There has been no difficulty; guarantors and their wards have been very co-operative with the rules,” she added.

Ms Arkah, speaking on turnout, noted that it has been encouraging, and opined that they would be able to capture persons who want to be registered before the stipulated time runs out.

Mrs Nora Nortey, Registration Officer at the Anglican Primary centre, also reiterated that the process has been smooth, and praised the co-operation of wards and their guarantors.

She also noted that turnout has been great, adding that her centre has registered 139 in the three days it opened.

“We are positive we can capture all those who want get onto the register,” she reiterated.

The Teshie District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Peter Yembillah, stated that his outfit hasn’t received any complaints from the centres of underage persons trying to get captured onto the register or of any other discrepancy.

“No one has been reported of trying to cause any unnecessary commotion at any of the centres; generally, the process is going on smoothly,” he said.

DSP Yembillah also stated that policemen have been deployed to the various centres to ensure that security is not compromised in anyway.

After today’s break, the registration will commence at the following centres from May 4 -8: Krobo Buko, Regimanuel, Camp 2 Primary, Krobo 1&2 Primary, Noble Professional and Floridan.
